1970
PS Construction
PS Construction is born
On 15 July 1970, our founder Ken Brocklehurst, a joiner by trade, set up PS Construction (Doncaster) Ltd. with his two business partners, Dave and Dennis.
1979
PS Construction
Nigel joins the company
In 1979, Ken’s eldest son, Nigel, joined PS construction straight from school at 16. He did an apprenticeship in joinery one day and one evening a week alongside this for the following three years. This, along with the time spent working alongside his highly skilled father Ken, gave Nigel an excellent grounding and knowledge of joinery and construction.
1982
PS Construction
Ken “goes it alone”
On 24 June 1982, Ken and his wife Joyce bought out his partners to “go it alone” in the pursuit to make PS Construction a true family business.
1984
PS Construction
Helen joins to keep things running smoothly
On 31 August 1984, Nigel’s sister-in-law Helen joined PS to take care of the company admin and eventually look after all things office related, including accounts and payroll, and keeping the lads in line!
1987
PS Construction
Chris joins the company
In 1987, Ken’s second son, Chris, joined PS Construction following his time at University where he studied maths and computing.
1990
PS Construction
Nigel and Chris become directors
On 26 October 1990, Nigel and Chris stepped up as directors of the company, and Chris took over as company secretary. Both Nigel and Chris would go on to run the business alongside their father.
1994
PS Construction
Adrian joins PS as a director
On 1 November 1994, Ken’s youngest son, Adrian, joined as a director of PS Construction following time spent training at catering college. Adrian would go on to relocate to Australia for over 10 years, where he had his three children. Adrian and his wife later moved back to the UK and he came back to work at PS as a project manager.
2009
Nick joins PS
In 2009, Nigel’s son, Nick, joined PS. After working for PS for 2 years straight from school at 16, then spending a year in Ireland playing professional rugby, Nick moved home at 20 and joined PS, where he worked his way up from top sweeper-upper to Project Manager.
2017
Emma joins PS
In 2017, Nigel’s daughter, Emma, joined PS to help Helen in the office as the business continues to expand. Emma works part time and balances her role with running her children’s clothing business and looking after her two boys.
2020

PS Construction turns 50
On 15 July 2020, PS Construction turned 50. We couldn’t have the big celebration that we would have liked due to Covid however we luckily were able to have a small get together and enjoy some cake!
2021
PS Construction
Our founder and beloved head of the family sadly passes away
Ken sadly passed away on 30 July 2021 at the age of 83. His funeral was held in August to celebrate Kens life, and the huge number of attendees spoke volumes of the impact that Ken made on so many people.

Lots to look forward to
We have no less than eight family members involved in the day to day running of the company and continue to take on exciting new projects. With lots in the pipeline, we’re looking forward to what the next year will bring.
